Name: Nevaeh Atchison Age: 12 Grade: 8 I chose: iShine Student Center Why? To take advantage of the
freedom to work ahead and create my
own learning path. Nevaeh says: “The teachers teach us
important things like integrity and
intrinsic motivation. The freedom to
use my own learning style is great for
me because I get to be creative and
am encouraged to try new things and
look for new perspectives.”
Nevaeh hopes to be a children’s book
author when she grows up.
Springs’ iShine Student Center said farewell to Maria Casas, special education instructional aide, who retired at the end of the school year. She originally worked in the mortgage industry, but after staying home for a time to raise her grandson, she opted for a career in education instead. She especially enjoyed working with students with disabilities and has worked for the past four years as a one-on-one aide.
Xander Owen, a 6th-grade student in Springs’ iShine Student Center, was recognized for his leadership skills in a recent Shark Tank project where they had to create or improve upon an existing product, reported teacher Kristy Foley. Xander’s group imagined the creation of the “Chore Bot” to help with household chores.
Dub Thee Fear, an hour-long play by Springs iShine 8th grade student Declan Kallberg, 13, will be performed virtually March 11 & 13, as part of Program A. Click here for additional details and to purchase a ticket to watch from home.
My favorite subject is English because my teacher teaches the subject so it is very easy to understand and succeed.
