Name: Nevaeh Atchison Age: 12 Grade: 8 I chose: iShine Student Center Why? To take advantage of the
freedom to work ahead and create my
own learning path. Nevaeh says: “The teachers teach us
important things like integrity and
intrinsic motivation. The freedom to
use my own learning style is great for
me because I get to be creative and
am encouraged to try new things and
look for new perspectives.”
Nevaeh hopes to be a children’s book
author when she grows up.
i-Shine provides Temecula area students an innovative learning environment with expert subject specialist teachers for children from grades TK-8. Two programs are offered:
Mosaic TK-8: Kids take hands-on, core workshop-style classes Monday through Thursday. Friday is a home study day that focuses on personalized development of mastery and individual project work.
Haiden Holmes, 11, is a 6th-grade student with Springs’ iShine Student Center who loves riding horses. She lives in Fallbrook. She rides Western-style each week and spends time daily with the horses feeding, brushing, and checking on them. She rides her aunts’ horses, which are American Paints ages 19 & 21.
Declan Kallberg, 13, an 8th grade student at Springs iShine Student Center, participated in The Living Room Play Workshop, an online offering by The Old Globe Arts Engagement that allows participants to write, direct and produce a play without leaving their homes. He created a play called “Ding Dong” in which his attempts at learning to play the piano are foiled by a barrage of would-be visitors knocking at the door. The first play he wrote, “Dub Thee Fear.”
Springs iShine Student Center in Temecula held a promotion parade for its 8th grad students and a recognition parade for TK-7th grade. As students drove by, TV screens featured photographs from the school year, staff saluted students, and students received certificates of completion.
Springs Charter Schools helps me develop my interests and talents with the photography class since it is something that I have been thinking about as a future career.
