i-Shine provides Temecula area students an innovative learning environment with expert subject specialist teachers for children from grades TK-8. Two programs are offered:
Mosaic TK-8: Kids take hands-on, core workshop-style classes Monday through Thursday. Friday is a home study day that focuses on personalized development of mastery and individual project work.
Name: Nevaeh Atchison Age: 12 Grade: 8 I chose: iShine Student Center Why? To take advantage of the
freedom to work ahead and create my
own learning path. Nevaeh says: “The teachers teach us
important things like integrity and
intrinsic motivation. The freedom to
use my own learning style is great for
me because I get to be creative and
am encouraged to try new things and
look for new perspectives.”
Nevaeh hopes to be a children’s book
author when she grows up.
Springs Temecula Student Center 4th grade teacher Rachelle Smiley promoted literacy in her classroom by creating Camp Read-A-Lot. Students went to class and were greeted by tents in which they could read. Vice Principal Valerie Walker said, "Using flashlights, campers embarked on a morning full of literacy."
Springs’ iShine Student Center said farewell to Maria Casas, special education instructional aide, who retired at the end of the school year. She originally worked in the mortgage industry, but after staying home for a time to raise her grandson, she opted for a career in education instead. She especially enjoyed working with students with disabilities and has worked for the past four years as a one-on-one aide.
What I love most about attending Springs Charter Schools is that there are no bullies, and everyone gets along. We do a lot of fun and educational activities.
