Springs Charter Schools provides eligible students the opportunity to earn both high school and college credit through concurrent or dual enrollment at accredited post-secondary institutions.
Key Policy Requirements & Approval Process
Pre-Approval & DocuSign Mandate
Students must obtain counselor approval and complete the official College Course Enrollment DocuSign form prior to enrolling in any college course. Failure to obtain pre-approval will result in the course being denied for placement on the student’s high school transcript. This includes summer college courses.
Full-Time Status Requirement
Students must be enrolled in at least 40 units of Springs-offered courses per school year (20 units per term) to maintain full-time high school status. College courses do not count toward this 40-unit requirement.
Fall Session Deadline
The deadline to submit the pre-approval enrollment form for Fall college courses is June 1st.
College Admissions Process
Completing the Springs pre-approval form does not replace the college’s own registration process. Students are responsible for fulfilling all admissions and application steps required by the target institution.
Course Changes
If a student does not get into their approved course and selects an alternative, a new DocuSign form must be submitted for counselor re-approval.
Progress Verification
Students must provide proof of enrollment to verify their schedule and respond to periodic academic progress check-ins from Springs staff.
Course Eligibility & Academic Standards
The school counseling department evaluates eligibility based on the following criteria:
- Approved Coursework: College courses may be taken to fulfill graduation requirements at an accelerated pace or to access subjects not offered in the regular high school curriculum.
- Academic History: Approval requires a history of strong academic performance in Springs core coursework.
- Continued Enrollment: Permission for subsequent college courses depends on successful completion and grades in prior college classes.
- Accreditation Disclaimer: Springs Charter Schools is not responsible for confirming whether chosen college courses transfer to out-of-state or non-partner post-secondary institutions.
