RVA Enrollment Jumps, Live-Stream Graduation Activities

Springs’ Renaissance Valley Academy (RVA) has seen its enrollment jump during this time of pandemic. When the shelter-in-place mandate came in March, it had 457 students.  So far for the 2020-21 school year, there are 514 active students with another 81 prospective students. Three Bear River Students Win Arts Awards

Three students at Springs’ Bear River Student Center have won PTSA Reflections Awards: Matthew Brown, 8th grade, Award Of Merit: Visual Arts, Gavin Dolan(pictured), 8th grade, Award Of Merit: Film. and Jaden Jackson, 8th grade, Award Of Excellence: Photography and Oma’s Choice Award For Photography.

Corona Promotion, ACE Goes “Above and Beyond”

The Corona Student Center held an 8th-grade parade promotion ceremony in May as its 8th-grade teacher is expecting a child the week school finishes. Students received goodie bags as they passed by. Corona Student Center ACE Sally Lorentson is “going above and beyond” during this time mandated distance learning due to the pandemic, reported Principal E.J. Whitehead and the Center staff. CTE Teacher Wins $25,000 Grant

Springs CTE teacher Chris Allen has won a $25,000 Epic MegaGrant for developing tutorials from Unreal Engine, an open and advanced real-time 3D creation tool. He has taught CTE Intro and Intermediate Game Design since 2015, creating his own curriculum in Canvas.  Unreal Engine was developed by Epic Games, makers of the popular online video game Fortnite. The tutorials which Mr. Allen will be developing are the same tutorials he uses in his courses. Continue reading
