In the spirit of play, Springs Learning Center students at the Pathfinder Resource Center participated in the first bi-monthly Minute-To-Win-It challenge themed to celebrate Fall. Students engaged in fun challenges, including dice stack, marshmallow target throw, ping pong ball toss, cereal box puzzle and the candy corn chopstick pick-up. The next Minute-To-Win-It event will be a Winter challenge on Dec. 16.

Springs’ Magnolia Student Center is saying goodbye to retiring long-time ACE Kimberly Lariviere, reported Principal Beverly Voechting. “Miss Kim” joined the staff in 2008, and has been most recently working in the classroom of 1st grade teacher Anna Oei. Mrs. Voechting said, “The dynamic duo are an amazing team teaching our littles how to enjoy reading, love writing and memorize math facts.”

Shawna Lewis, principal of Springs’ Del Rio and Palm Academy Student Centers, reported that the Del Rio site enjoyed a Harvest Festival with staff dressing up as Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs, and students enjoying arts & crafts, face painting, pie the principal and more (pictured are Darlene Blackman and Shawna Lewis). They also celebrated Indigenous People’s Month with presentations by two local tribal leaders to middle school students.

Jesse Shedden, a 7th grade student with Springs’ Venture Online program, is an accomplished motocross and street bike racer. The 12-year-old has been racing nearly his entire life, and has won international championships in Canada and France, and is hoping for another big win in an upcoming MiniGP Final in Spain. He said, “I enjoy the competition. I am very competitive.”
