The maintenance staff has been busy improving the facility for student instruction, reported Principal Julia Krisel. The site has new paint and flooring, signage and curriculum room for small group lessons.

A new marine biology class is being offered for 11th and 12th graders with options for students to take the class in person or online. Marine Biology is a fourth-year science course that counts as a life science A-G and will explore all of the diverse creatures that live in the ocean and such non-living factors as waves, tides, and currents.

The Santa Ana Student Center (SASC) is receiving a playground upgrade, reported Principal Tricia Gallagher. The previous blacktop was damaged by large tree roots; the new concrete playground will have painted games such as hopscotch and four-square and a full basketball court, expanded from a single basketball hoop.
Educational publisher Academic Innovations (AI) has awarded a gold medal to Springs for Get Focused, its career education program for 9th-grade students.
Springs’ Venture Online staff met in August to collaborate and prepare for the new school year.
Palm Academy kicked off the new school year with a Community Carnival. Students and friends of the school enjoyed game booths, a snow cone/ice cream bus, food trucks, and waterslides, reported Haroon Abdul Mubaarik, principal.
Over the summer, Springs staff was busy developing and facilitating engaging professional development for educators, high school students, and caregivers, reported Tamara Rose, Springs Director of Professional Learning and Development.
Enrollment is up across the board in Springs’ programs and student centers in the new school year; some examples of sites reporting significant jumps in enrollment include the Corona Student Center, Cherry Valley Co-op, and the Bear River Student Center.
