Homeschool senior Dylan Jun, 14, of Rancho Santa Margarita has been accepted to UCI and UC San Diego. He has also applied to UCLA and UC Berkeley. He is currently leaning towards attending UC San Diego, as his brother Collin, who graduated high school at age 13 in 2018, attends there.

Magnolia Student Center staff encouraged students to read during the month of March by creating a student “Rise to the Challenge and Read” reading challenge. Each student was assigned a novel to read, and the one who devoted the most time to reading earned the school’s traveling “Participation Party ‘P’ (a light-up letter P). Classes with the most Party Ps will win a year-end pizza party.

Xander Owen, a 6th-grade student in Springs’ iShine Student Center, was recognized for his leadership skills in a recent Shark Tank project where they had to create or improve upon an existing product, reported teacher Kristy Foley. Isabelle Won, a 5th-grade student at the Santa Ana Student Center, has founded K.I.D.S. (Kind Individuals Doing Service) in an effort to improve the lives of others in the community. She and her fellow students in K.I.D.S. plan to engage in a major project each month; the first one was handing out Valentine’s Day goodie bags filled with chocolates, pencils, erasers, and other treats to people in their community. After nearly a year of virtual learning, Springs’ Rancho Cucamonga Student Center welcomed students’ grades K-6 back to the campus at 25% capacity for hybrid learning on March 8. The school had been closed to students due to the pandemic lockdown.
