Alexander Larreta is a 7th-grade Homeschool student and Riverside resident who is a member of the Civil Air Patrol, a civilian auxiliary to the U.S. Air Force, with aspirations to attend the Air Force Academy and become a fighter pilot. As part of the Civilian Air Patrol, he attends weekly squadron meetings where he learns about aerospace “as well as how to be a leader, how to take care of my community, how to be disciplined & responsible, and how to respect others.”

Springs Journey 9th grade student Caleb Tate is pursuing his passion, dirt bike racing, with the flexibility that comes with homeschooling through Springs. Caleb has been racing dirt bikes since 2013 and off-road racing since 2019, including an AMA national title in 2020.

Springs’ Bear River Student Center has implemented a new peer mediation group in which students mediate conflicts among peers with the assistance of Mrs. Seymour, the on-site counselor. In January, 38 students in grades 5-8 participated in 10 hours of peer mediation training led by the Community Action Partnership of Riverside County.

Principal Lanise Goosby reports that Springs’ Montessori Voyage 6th grade student Nathan Broxton, age 11, of Lake Forest “has been making his way into the hearts of many and catching the eye of Broadway superstars.” He gained viral attention when a clip of him singing along to “Naughty” from the Matilda movie musical took off on social media.

Springs Career Technical Education (CTE) students from multiple programs traveled to the Ontario International Airport to learn about career and job opportunities associated with an international airport, reported Maureen Roye, director of Career Internship Technical Education (CITE). She explained, “Like most large airports, ONT is in itself a little city, so there are many opportunities for CTE students to find interesting and successful careers.”
