Cherry Valley Promotes “Reach Core Values”

November 14, 2023

Springs Cherry Valley Student Center has completed its Character Build Assemblies in which students make presentations promoting the school’s Reach Core Values: respect, empathy, acceptance, commitment and honesty. Following the assemblies, students take the “Principal’s Challenge,” in which they complete a writing task associated with the spotlighted value. Students then take the challenge home to complete and then return to school for submission for “Lunch with Admin,” during which time students and administrators share stories at lunch.

Cherry Valley Holds RAD Week

September 12, 2023

Springs’ Cherry Valley Student Center began its school year with RAD (Reduce Anxiety and Depression) Week, reported Principal Tammy Slaten, “by encouraging our students to develop on a social-emotional level prior to the start of the curriculum. We realize students need to feel a sense of belonging before they can focus academically and we take pride in our RAD Week and the amazing community it brings.”

Cherry Valley Improvements Planned

August 21, 2023

Cherry Valley Student Center is planning major improvements to its campus, including adding six classrooms, a main office, staff parking, an outdoor gathering area/classrooms, and an outdoor performing arts center. The improvements will enable the center to better serve the needs of students as the school population grows, reported Principal Tammy Slaten.

New Cherry Valley Teacher

April 13, 2023

Raquel Lopez is the Cherry Valley Student Center’s new revolving substitute teacher, reported Principal Tammy Slaten. She began the year as the 4th/5th grade ACE, Tammy said, but “I quickly noticed her gift of reaching our students and have since extended her daily duties to student intervention.”

Cherry Valley Winter Wonderland Workshop

January 3, 2023

Springs’ Cherry Valley Student Center created a Winter Wonderland Workshop where families chose crafts to create while visiting with Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus.  Student art was on display for visitors to enjoy, and student council members presented a hot cocoa and cookie fundraiser.  Principal Tammy Slaten said, “Our families had a blast and are looking forward to this event’s return next year.”

Cherry Valley Winter Wonderland Student Store

November 10, 2022

Springs’ Cherry Valley Student Center will present a Winter Wonderland Student Store stocked with donated gift items December 5-16, reported Principal Tammy Slaten. All Cherry Valley learning center and academy students are supplied with Cherry Dollars they can use to purchase gifts for their family members (they are encouraged to bring in additional money to make purchases beyond their Cherry Dollar budget).

Cherry Valley Offers Optional R.E.A.C.H. Fridays

September 19, 2022

Springs’ Cherry Valley Homeschool Cooperative, which offers in-classroom instruction Tuesday through Thursday and homestudy on Mondays and Fridays, had a great turnout in September for its first-ever Optional R.E. A.C.H. Friday. On this optional day, students had the opportunity to participate in four enrichment and intervention class rotations: Enrichment, Masters of Writing, Math Mates, and Homestudy Hall.

Springs Enrollment Grows

August 26, 2022

Enrollment is up across the board in Springs’ programs and student centers in the new school year; some examples of sites reporting significant jumps in enrollment include the Corona Student Center, Cherry Valley Co-op, and the Bear River Student Center.
