Springs’ Cherry Valley Student Center will present a Winter Wonderland Student Store stocked with donated gift items December 5-16, reported Principal Tammy Slaten. All Cherry Valley learning center and academy students are supplied with Cherry Dollars they can use to purchase gifts for their family members (they are encouraged to bring in additional money to make purchases beyond their Cherry Dollar budget).
Prior to opening day, shopping lists are sent home for families to create. Students return to school during shopping hours with a list of people for whom they are permitted to shop. During the checkout process, students are encouraged to count out and manage their own money. After the purchase is complete, students enter the Wrapping Zone and are then given the opportunity to wrap and tag their own gifts at one of the wrap stations prior to the gifts being sent home for Christmas. Wrapping paper, tape, and tags are donated by local businesses and families.
