Springs’ Cherry Valley Homeschool Cooperative, which offers in-classroom instruction Tuesday through Thursday and homestudy on Mondays and Fridays, had a great turnout in September for its first-ever Optional R.E. A.C.H. Friday. On this optional day, students had the opportunity to participate in four enrichment and intervention class rotations: Enrichment, Masters of Writing, Math Mates, and Homestudy Hall.
During their Homestudy Hall rotation, students worked on their Friday homestudy assignments with the support of Cherry Valley staff. “My goal for this optional day is to grow Cherry Valley academically, support any struggles students experience while completing their home study assignments, and to teach independent study skills,” explained Principal Tammy Slaten.
These independent study skills are needed for students to succeed in a three-day-a-week offering and also to better prepare 8th-grade graduates for the high school programs offered through Springs, she continued.
“I am excited to see the benefits this additional day on campus brings to our students’ academic successes.”
