SASC Holds “Open Closet” for Families

Springs’ Santa Ana Student Center (SASC) held its 3rd annual Open Closet, which invited SASC families to “shop” for free clothing and shoes, reported Elisa Cornelius, school counselor. Items were donated from throughout Orange County and required a U-Haul to transport all the donated items.

Virtual Village Read-a-Thon, Showcase, Park Days

March 24, 2025

Springs Virtual Village held a Read-a-Thon in March, with students logging their reading minutes using electronic reading logs, tracking their progress throughout the week. The celebration included special guest readers who shared their favorite stories, bringing books to life for students. They also had themed days, including “Dress Up as Your Favorite Book Character Day”, where students came in costume.

IMPACT Meeting, Aloha Luau Day

March 20, 2025

Springs held its 4th annual IMPACT (Individualized Mentors and Professional Administrative Coaching and Training) meeting for 225 non-instructional support staff at Springs’ event center in Temecula. Monica Strain, HR manager-training & professional development who helped organize the event, said, “The IMPACT meeting was a great day of inspiration, learning, and connection.”

Connections Academy Student Takes First at Speech Meet

Aarav Bajaj, a 4th-grade student in Connections Academy at Springs, earned first place in Spring’s annual Speech Meet. He delivered an “excellent” speech, reported Principal Laurie Campbell, “impressing the judges and showcasing his excellent public speaking skills.”

Magnolia Talent Show, Blood Drive, Kindness Week

February 28, 2025

The Magnolia Student Center held “Magnolia’s Got Talent,” featuring 30 students performing acts for the school community. Singers, dancers, and guitar and bass players were all part of the fun. In other Magnolia news, the school hosted its annual blood drive through the American Red Cross; 30 pints were donated. The school also celebrated Kindness Week with a variety of activities.

Journey Junior Excels at Sports, Academics

February 20, 2025

Katie Irwin, an 11th-grade student in Springs’ Journey Homeschool High School, excels in basketball and volleyball. She began playing basketball in the 9th grade with Springs’ Renaissance Valley Academy and began playing volleyball the following year. She remarked, “I absolutely love being on a team as I’m able to connect with people and have fun while doing it. I’m a very competitive person and enjoy playing games very much. This program is amazing as I’ve had so many good experiences.”

Del Rio Holds Fashion Show

February 12, 2025

TK and kindergarten students at Springs’ Del Rio Student Center celebrated the 100th day of school with their annual 100th Day Fashion Show, reported Principal Kim Ballantyne-Morse. Students decorated shirts with 100 items of their choice, including coins, plastic bugs, Lego pieces, jewels, and flowers.

Springs All School Spelling Bee

February 12, 2025

Thirty students from Springs’ regional academies and programs participated in the Springs All School Spelling Bee Invitational in Temecula. There were 13 rounds; the final round featured 8th graders Profess Adhikari from the Bear River Student Center and Kat Odell from Rancho Cucamonga Personalized Learning Center attempting to spell the winning word, curmudgeon. Profess prevailed.
