Journey Junior Excels at Sports, Academics

Katie Irwin, an 11th-grade student in Springs’ Journey Homeschool High School, excels in basketball and volleyball. She began playing basketball in the 9th grade with Springs’ Renaissance Valley Academy and began playing volleyball the following year. She remarked, “I absolutely love being on a team as I’m able to connect with people and have fun while doing it. I’m a very competitive person and enjoy playing games very much. This program is amazing as I’ve had so many good experiences.”

Katie is an excellent student, believes ES Summer Knapp, who keeps up a busy schedule, including “Barstow dual enrollment courses, painting beautiful landscapes, supporting her teams in CIF, and working at Polly’s Pies.” Katie is a positive example to peers, Summer continued, “and a joy with whom to work. Her smile lights up any room she is in. I can’t wait to see what she will do next.”

Katie has attended Springs since the 8th grade and when she finishes school, she’d like to be an elementary school teacher.
