Isabelle Won, a 5th-grade student at the Santa Ana Student Center, has founded K.I.D.S. (Kind Individuals Doing Service) in an effort to improve the lives of others in the community. She and her fellow students in K.I.D.S. plan to engage in a major project each month; the first one was handing out Valentine’s Day goodie bags filled with chocolates, pencils, erasers, and other treats to people in their community. After nearly a year of virtual learning, Springs’ Rancho Cucamonga Student Center welcomed students’ grades K-6 back to the campus at 25% capacity for hybrid learning on March 8. The school had been closed to students due to the pandemic lockdown.

Springs Charter Schools has been designated a “Kindness Certified School District” as part of Kids for Peace’s 10th annual Great Kindness Challenge, which is “a positive and uplifting program that fosters connection, inclusion, appreciation and overall well-being.” The annual program has multiplied in enrollment each year, having grown to over 17 million students in 33,000 schools, reaching across all 50 states and 115 countries.

Brian C. 18, is a senior and Mira Loma resident attending Springs’ Magnolia Student Center who is a master pianist. His favorite classical pieces are Rachmaninoff’s 2nd Piano Concerto, Mahler’s 2nd Symphony, and Chopin’s 1st Ballade. He practices up to four hours a day, and, in the past year, has performed virtual concerts.
