CSC Enjoys Playday, School Choice Week

Springs’ Corona Student Center (CSC) students visited Sheridan Park, a short walk from the campus, for a fun, Psychology Today-promoted Global School Playday. The students also participated in National School Choice Week, which raises awareness of school choice. Students were invited to dress in themed clothing on individual days, including tie-dye, Disney, and Wear Yellow Days.

CSC Launches New Afterschool Program

September 13, 2021

Springs’ Corona Student Center (CSC) has begun an afterschool program to promote students’ emotional and social well being, reported Principal E.J. Whitehead. Participants have the opportunity to play outdoor and indoor games and to socialize in a safe environment. In the new school year, the CSC is serving 70 students, grades K-8.

Corona Student Center Staffing Changes

August 16, 2021

Corona Student Center Principal E.J. Whitehead reports that the new school year brings with it some important staffing changes. The school’s 6/7 teacher, Marlene Cummins, returns to the Center after a year away. Alexis Bueno will be working in the Center’s 3/4 class with Nicole NewmanMarcela Roseberry will be joining the team as a 1:1 aide.

Corona Coyote Meetings for Grades K-8

Springs’ Corona Student Center has launched monthly online Corona Coyote meetings with the principal, E.J. Whitehead, and the student’s grades K-8.  In the first meeting in January, students reflected on the past semester and discussed what they were looking forward to in the upcoming semester.  In February, a special guest will discuss physical activity programs available during the pandemic.

Corona Promotion, ACE Goes “Above and Beyond”

The Corona Student Center held an 8th-grade parade promotion ceremony in May as its 8th-grade teacher is expecting a child the week school finishes. Students received goodie bags as they passed by. Corona Student Center ACE Sally Lorentson is “going above and beyond” during this time mandated distance learning due to the pandemic, reported Principal E.J. Whitehead and the Center staff.
