The Corona Student Center held an 8th-grade parade promotion ceremony in May as its 8th-grade teacher is expecting a child the week school finishes. Students received goodie bags as they passed by. Corona Student Center ACE Sally Lorentson is “going above and beyond” during this time mandated distance learning due to the pandemic, reported Principal E.J. Whitehead and the Center staff. Ms. Sally, they reported, “has captured the minds and ears of many with her live story read alouds.” She hosts three weekly Zoom calls to read to students in grades TK-4, and another three to read to older students through the 8th grade. She has had a consistent following, and “kiddos come with their blankets and stuffed animals and the adults come with coffee to listen to Ms. Sally read.”
She has finished books 1-3 in the Stink Moody collection and is continuing on in the series. Click here to listen to a session.
