Amelie Jessie Mayer, 13, is a Mosaic student going into the 9th grade. She lives in Corona. She began with River Springs in 2015.
She chose the program because of its small and safe environment, which she believed was lacking in her former traditional school environment. She said, “River Springs is a peaceful and safe school with genuinely kind students and teachers.” She also enjoys the “luxury” of being homeschooled. She explained, “Homeschooling is magnificent because you get to make your own homework schedule and personalize your way of getting things done, and do all of this at home.” She added, “You are also able to have more free time once you manage finishing the day’s work, whereas in public school you are there all day and have no time to enjoy your family.”
Amelie’s also grateful to her teachers, who “take all of their time and energy to personalize your learning. Every student receives different online lessons for their personal levels of learning and to improve their weaker areas of knowledge. They create fun and educational activities that excite you about discovering more.” Her favorite subjects include language arts, history and science. In the future, she’d like to pursue a career in dance or music. Her hobbies include dance, singing, piano, baking, crafts and art. She noted that one interesting fact about her is that although she is an American citizen, she was born in Japan. Her parents taught English there. She concluded, “River Springs is a great school with exciting activities around every corner. It has wonderful people.”
