When the first class of middle and high school students arrives at Springs Charter Schools’ new campus for the first time Tuesday, Nov. 29, they’ll see brand-new furniture, technology, and other amenities — but they’ll also be surrounded by history. The K-12 school, which has been based on Chicago Avenue for the past 2 1/2 years, is moving its Magnolia Student Center to the building occupied for more than 50 years by the YMCA. Hannah Hanks, age 9, is an active member of the Glen Avon 4-H club, traveling with her show animals to several shows and fairs each year. The Jurupa Valley/Riverside resident is going into the 4^th grade with Springs’ Magnolia Academy; being part of the program allows her to be away at these shows a week or more at a time. River Springs Charter School will partner with La Sierra University’s Academy of Visual and Performing Arts for the 2017-2018 school year allowing Homeschool and academy students in Corona and Riverside programs to benefit from a K-6 grade music education provided by the student interns from the university.
