KEYS senior Abigail Lewis-Sandlin is working with the Hemet Learning Center site staff and her classmates to create a friendship garden. She explained, “We have a dirt patch in our lunch area. It’s next to the sidewalk and it’s been just dirt for as long as I can remember. So, I came up with plans for the garden and presented my idea to our school.”
She recruited fellow students and teachers to help, and is soliciting donations from the community. They hope to plant the garden in February. Abigail continued, “With this project I hope to accomplish several things, including; bringing our school and our community together, show other students the importance of teamwork, leadership and community service, and inspire other students to become leaders who change our world.”
