Ryder Price, 12, a 7th-grade student at Springs’ Flabob Airport Preparatory Academy (FAPA), has begun an informal internship with the technology company Software Anywhere. In a meeting at the company headquarters, he discussed designing websites and games, and the coding behind it.
The staff plans to teach him the basics of coding, which he can teach to fellow students as young as age 7. When he turns 14, he’ll be eligible for a formal internship with Software Anywhere.
The Jurupa Valley resident has been attending Springs’ schools for nearly four years. He started as a Homeschooler, then joined FAPA. He said, “The program has worked amazingly. There are a lot of fun things, nice people and multiple things that are not in normal school. We have an animation program, school clubs, coding and things that are not at traditional schools.”
After he graduates FAPA, he said, “I would love to let my imagination go with robotics and coding to see what I can do or make.”
He plans for a career making and coding robots, and “doing the new techy stuff.” Other interests include music and “old fashioned stuff” like records, typewriters and old cars. He added, “I love engineering and might want to make a car with my dad, or a plane.”
