Welcome aboard the SEA STAR! Come join us on a fascinating learning experience where students of all ages learn an appreciation for marine life, ecosystems, and how their daily lives connect with the sea. This is an exciting opportunity for students of to get their hands wet sampling and measuring local marine environmental conditions and examining coastal habits. Discover by “hands-on” examination many living marine specimens sampled from the ocean floor with the use of an otter trawl net. Using a color video microscope with LCD monitor students can examine the micro-organisms collected with a plankton trawl net. Students will be challenged to interpret and use their observation skills to learn details about marine birds and mammals in their natural habitat. Observe marine environmental conditions with oceanographic instruments.
This is sure to be a fun and exciting day of discovery!

The “Tech Fair” is unique in that its charter is to enlighten 7th-12th grade students to the world of science and the possibilities of a scientific career. Local participating companies, provide interactive experiences for students to enjoy seeing ‘real life’ applications of what they may be learning. More than 60 exhibitors representing the STEM learning strands will provide hands-on interactive demonstrations of the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math concepts students are learning about in school. These real-world examples provide middle and high school students with important insight into the possibilities of a career in STEM.

Looking for a better life, students sign aboard as emigrants working for their passage to America. On this epic voyage they must abandon everything that is familiar to them and adapt to the new demands of shipboard life. This voyage will take students three quarters of the way around the world and traverse the infamous “Roaring Forties”. Life promises to be challenging as students must communicate and work together in order to survive. The skills they learn, however, will become invaluable in helping to prepare for an uncertain future in the New World.

We are in a play!
