From the Superintendent: Charter School Advocacy

I hope you all enjoyed a Happy Halloween yesterday, and, more importantly, that your children have settled into a successful school year.

As I indicated in a Daily Refreshment email sent out October 4, those of us in charter school leadership are generally pleased with the results of some charter school legislation that was recently signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom, in that it was significantly modified to reduce its negative impact on charter schools.  I won’t go into details again here, but I do want to stress that there are two things we can do to help ensure that charter schools not only survive in the State of California, but thrive: 1) work to make Springs a model charter school in the state, and 2) stay active legislatively, so that we can resist the efforts of those who would like to see charter schools be a thing of the past.  One of the easiest ways of doing this following the work of the California Charter Schools Association (click on their “Get Involved” tab, and see what you can do.)

We have many wonderful things going on in our schools, some highlights of which we share below.  We are very much grateful to you for making Springs your charter school of choice, and if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your appropriate program representative.
