Superintendent’s Message – May 2019

It’s hard to believe that we’re again nearing the end of another school year. I hope you and your families have some fun things planned for the summer. And to our graduating seniors, I look forward to seeing the exciting college and career choices you will be making as you graduate from Springs.

While charter schools have helped many thousands of families both at Springs and throughout the State of California, I’d like to take this opportunity to warn you of a pending package of harmful anti-charter school bills making their way through our state legislature. These include AB1505, AB1506 and AB1507, which I called to your attention in a recent letter. Click here for details and to have your voice heard. I also encourage you to follow the work of the California Charter Schools Association which is engaged in legislative advocacy as well as other efforts to support charter schools.
If we are not vigilant, we could lose our rights to have our children attend charter schools, and they would lose the benefits of personalized learning in schools tailored to their needs that Springs and other charter schools in California offer.

Another way you can support the work of Springs Charter Schools is by helping your students to do their best in CAASPP testing, which is underway in our schools. While I know that standardized tests are not popular with some of our parents, they are an important State-mandated measure of how well Springs Charter Schools children have progressed in school. Strong achievement, growth and participation in State testing helps to ensure our long-term survival as a charter school.

It is important that each of our students not only prepare for testing, but show up for each day of testing. Click here to watch a recent video I did regarding CAASPP testing.
I thank you all for making Springs your charter school of choice.
