Vista Families Represent at Charter Meeting

Vista Springs Charter School recently marked an important step in its charter renewal process, highlighted by strong participation from its school community.

On April 7, students, families, and staff from Vista Student Center attended the Advisory Commission on Charter Schools (ACCS) meeting, where the school received unanimous support for the renewal of its charter, along with a positive recommendation from the California Department of Education. Their presence reflected the close-knit community behind Vista Springs and the shared investment in its continued success.

Following the meeting, attendees had the opportunity to visit the California State Capitol together. Principal Kimberly Bagby shared that spending time at the Capitol allowed students to see how decisions about education are made, helping connect their classroom learning to real-world civic processes.

Charter schools undergo a renewal process every few years to ensure they are providing strong academic programs and meaningful support for students. The support shown at the ACCS meeting is a reflection of the impact Vista Springs continues to have on its students and families.

The next step in the process will be a final vote by the California State Board of Education, scheduled for May 12–13, as the Vista Springs community looks ahead with continued pride and anticipation.
