Venture Online Academy, the first online academy for Springs Charter Schools, has begun its first year. Andrea Leib is the director; she has 30 years of experience in the education field as a teacher, guidance counselor, private tutor, and administrator.
Augusta Downey is teaching English for grades 6-12; she has 22 years of experience, including 12 teaching online. Karen O’Brien is teaching Social Studies grades 6-12; she holds a K-12 multiple subject teaching credential and a degree in Psychology. Matthew Sherman is teaching math grades 6-12; he has been an educator for 13 years and has taught in the traditional classroom as well as working as a tutor. Grahme Smith is teaching Science and Health grades 6-12 as well as K-5; he has taught in the traditional classroom, has helped found a charter school and worked in a science museum. Michelle Lomas will serve as program facilitator.
“We have an outstanding staff, and we’re all looking forward to a great first year,” remarked Andrea.
Venture Online Academy can be a right fit for many students, she noted, because it can be done “anywhere, anytime and at your child’s pace.”
