OCEANSIDE, CA, July 9, 2014 – Springs Charter Schools are pleased to welcome Amy Heald as the new Director for their La Fuente Student Center in Oceanside, California. Opening in August, the center will offer Springs’ new Dual Immersion Spanish-English 50/50 Program. It is designed for native English speakers and native Spanish speakers and their parents who want to learn a second language. The program will serve grades Transitional Kindergarten (TK) through 5th grade.
“Springs have an outstanding reputation in the charter school community and I’m excited to join their staff,” said Heald. “I believe our new dual immersion program will be an excellent addition to the schools’ many offerings, and that it will be popular among both students and parents.”
Heald has a B.A. degree from Williams College, and a Master of Education and BCLAD teaching credential from Claremont Graduate School. She has had more than 20 years of teaching experience, from kindergarten to adult. Her career emphasis has been on second language acquisition, particularly English and Spanish. Most recently, she served as acting executive director of Mountain Peak Charter School in Vista.
