Springs Students Perform in Colonial Williamsburg

Six Springs students with the Mountain Fifes and Drums of Lake Arrowhead traveled to Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia to participate in the annual Drummer’s Call, an exhibition of the top Fifes and Drums Corps around the nation.

The students included Jayden Garland, Evie and Mary Guerrero, and Abbigale and Gibson Postiff; Catrina Richter was also attended. They marched in the Grand March, performed a field show and marched in the Twilight Tattoo by torchlight.

The students and their families also had the chance to visit such nearby historical sites as Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, the Jamestown settlement and Yorktown battlefield. While in Yorktown, the site of the final major battle of the Revolutionary War, the students had the opportunity to perform Yankee Doodle. Homeschool ES Nadia Phillips said, “I’m very proud of them.”
