E.J. Whitehead, interim principal at Springs’ Corona Student Center (CSC), joined in a roundtable meeting in the office of California Assembly Member Sabrina Cervantes.
Participating in the meeting were Jayna Gaskell of Pivot Schools, Ron Henderson of Excelsior School, Fatima Cristerna-Adame of the California Charter Schools Association and Dr. Luisa Tassan from the assembly member’s office. He noted that Cervantes voted “yes” for the anti-charter AB 1507, however, Mr. Whitehead continued, “we were able to have a very detailed conversation which touched on various points with regard to AB 1505, AB 1506 and SB 756, and how these bills would take away the options for families to find academic support in the smaller environment of charter schools. We also spoke about the reality of the populations we serve and the effectiveness of our service and support.”
