Springs’ Renaissance Valley Academy (RVA) finished construction of Crown Hall (the building on the right in the photo, the two-story building on the left is called Royal Hall), a new one-story classroom building and gymnasium, along with additional parking and other site improvements.
Construction had been delayed for four months, but staff and students have now been able to occupy the building. Crown Hall is primarily for use by the high school, although middle school students will use it for music class, possibly art, and use of the gym. The new building will aid the school in serving its growing student body, which currently serves 655 students in grades 6-12. The goal is to grow to 800 students.
Teacher Anick Mejia noted that RVA has introduced several new programs, including music and performing arts, and that the visual arts program has grown significantly. Additionally, the athletics program is growing, and this year offered football. The addition of a new gymnasium will allow RVA to host home games, “positively influencing our school culture in many ways.”
Future plans include offering CTE courses on-site and providing more career technical education.
