The first ever CIF competition for River Springs Temecula High School was this past Tuesday, September 8, 2015. The Sherman Indian High School invitational had more than 40 runners and was an exciting moment for the Centurions.
The Centurions performed better than expected. Both teams, boys and girls, finished the race strong. The parent support was incredible and brought excitement to the event. The boys’ team was led by sophomore Cristian Peña Ortiz who finished in 4th place with a time of 13:23 followed by freshman Joshua Vernell who finished with a strong 9th place. The ladies were amazing themselves in their race. The team was led by freshman Elisa Varnell who finished 4th and was followed by junior Veronica Varnell with a very competitive 9th place. At the end of the meeting, Coach Wendy Smith expressed to everyone how proud she was of the hard work they had put into the team. The River Springs Temecula teams brought CENTURION pride to all of our schools and Temecula! Thank you CENTURIONS!!
