Springs’ Palm Academy in Indio has been awarded $17,500 from the Anderson Children’s Foundation to expand its Desert Fox sound studio and animation space. It is the second grant received from the foundation; in 2021, the foundation gave a $12,500 grant to build the studio and purchase needed AnimationNow software so that students could create their own animated stories.
The studio blends well with the school’s arts-integrated curriculum; students are able to develop their writing, thinking, and creative abilities by writing a story and the Desert Fox studio can be used to bring it to life. Palm Academy Principal Haroon Abdul-Mubaarik expressed his gratitude to the Anderson Children’s Foundation and Springs’ Summit Springs Educational Foundation which helped secure the grant, remarking, “Palm Academy students will continue to develop their passion for art, by using animation to express their talents with our enhanced animation space.”
