The Otay Ranch Student Center held its 3rd annual STEAM Fair, an exhibition of student projects which incorporate Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math using the scientific method for research and analysis.
This was a time for students to demonstrate the STEAM projects in which all students participate, said Philip Parks, principal. STEAM night happened in each classroom and families were able to float between classrooms, and observe the students’ “awesome” projects, said Mr. Parks.
In other Center news, teachers and ACEs participated in a collaborative workshop building a Rube Goldberg-style machine using physics and mathematics. Tami Foster, site facilitator, said, “They tapped into their creative juices by engineering moving contraptions from an odd assortment of recycled and readily available materials.”
