Wesley Heinz, an 8-year-old 3rd-grade student at Springs’ Magnolia Student Center, loves to write books. After he finishes school, he said, he hopes to be an author and illustrator.
Wesley attended Riverside Student Center for kindergarten and 1st grade, and the Magnolia Student Center for 2nd and 3rd grade. His interest in writing began, he said, when “Mrs. Poe, my 1st-grade teacher, wanted us to make a book and once I started, I didn’t want to stop!”
His favorite story he’s written, he said, was one called “The Spy Zoo,” about “spies defeating bad guys.” He also likes to write about Transformers and Minecraft. He writes his stories for himself, family, friends, and teachers. Other interests include basketball and video games.
He said, “What I like about writing is sharing stories with the world. I don’t find it challenging because I just think of a topic and start writing and illustrating.”
