Keys Program Celebrates Year of PLAY

This year, Springs’ focus is PLAY, Keys Principal Jennifer Martin noted, and the Keys staff “shared this notion with the students who fully embraced the idea.”

In Hemet, Keys Education Specialist JessiLee Morgan opened up her classroom for students “to work on non-academic projects allowing them to simply enjoy one another’s company, explore their creative genius, solve problems and have a playful time doing it.” Students come in three different days a week to work on murals, create and play their own Dungeons and Dragons game and discuss ways in which they can transform the community.

Other teachers, like Cindy Lasch, “use dress-up and surprises as a way in which to make the learning environment fun and light-hearted. Students and staff enjoy the time to find joy in school again.”
