Jack Lowell, 13, is a 7th-grade student in Springs’ iShine Student Center in Temecula who for teacher appreciation day performed a drum solo for his teachers.
He began the iShine program in the 1st grade, as he and his family thought traditional public school would be a poor fit for him: “I’m the type of person who learns better when I can move around and have a bit more freedom.”
He began learning the drums at the beginning of this year, inspired by the success of Twenty One Pilots drummer Josh Dun. Jack practices daily, and hopes one day to perform in a band. He said, “I like creating music. There is a feeling that you feel when creating these songs. I think not only will they like it, but will I like it, too.’”
