Springs Homeschool learning center students in Lauren Sommer’s BizWorld class learned about business by creating their own companies, reported Jacquelyn Hunter, Homeschool director.
They engaged in the application/interview process, developed a product with their teams, manufactured their product in bulk, and worked on commercials and posters to market their products. Students worked with their peers on teamwork, communication, and conflict resolution to make company decisions. The class culminated with a BizWorld Sale on campus facilitated with fake money.
Students received their investment money at the beginning of the year to start their companies and set profit goals to pay back their investments while also making a profit. Following the sale, each team calculated their profits and reflected on outcomes.
