Shawna Lewis, teaching vice principal of Springs’ Flabob Academy, and husband Roy have featured interviews in a promotional video for the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) Flying Start Program. The program is an effort to reach out to local communities and “bring those interested in aviation to the airport for a first-hand look at the wonders of flight.”
In addition to the interview, Mrs. Lewis was filmed flying in a plane with a female pilot. The interview and b-roll footage are part of a nationwide advertisement for the Flying Start program.
Mrs. Lewis attended a Flying Start program last October after a Flabob graduate had encouraged her to participate in the program as a way to make connections for the school. She said, “Attending this day has turned into a big deal.”
Additionally, she was interviewed about the program for the March 2019 issue of Sport Aviation magazine.
