Zaira Garcia, 18, who is in Springs’ KEYS program, is a gifted dancer. She has participated in televised shows for Chinese New Year Galas performing Folklorico; her hip-hop team attended a national competition and took second place.
Her love for dancing began when her mother enrolled her in ballet at age four. Since then she’s danced in a variety of styles.
She has been involved in the KEYS program since 2016. She said, “The flexibility of KEYS allows me to focus on my education as well as have time for dancing and volunteering. Recently, I attained my first job and have not had scheduling issues due to how adaptable the KEYS program is.”
She plans to go on to college after graduation, and is exploring different majors and careers. Other interests include volunteering at her church, playing guitar and singing in choir.
