The Vista Student Center has welcomed five Courage speakers who have addressed TK-8th-grade students in its La Fuente and Mosaic Academies. Principal Amy Heald hopes the students will be “inspired by speakers and also that they will want to talk about their own courageous adventures in front of their peers.”
Speakers have talked about climbing Mt. Whitney and White Mountain, working in the Amazon rainforest, fighting fires and starting a business as a dog trainer (Dane Van Bommell, pictured), and have performed with a variety of musical instruments. Visitors are welcome to come to the talks, and suggestions of future speakers are welcome. Contact Ms. Heald, (951) 319-1737.
The Center also hosts regular community nights, most recently one featuring Tasting Traditions. Families brought samples of favorite foods and participants learned about family traditions while listening to international music. Contact the Center to find out the dates of upcoming community nights.
