Springs’ Virtual Village teachers provide students with as many hands-on and team-building opportunities as possible, said Principal Lanise Goosby. Students have completed innovation projects and built mock ecosystems. Ms. Goosby said, “Our team takes full advantage of our occasional in-person meetings, and we use this time to learn and laugh together.”
Montessori Voyage students have embraced using their manipulatives in daily learning; their favorites are the 100s board, golden beads, and geometry stick. Ms. Goosby continued, “We know interactive experiences can solidify understanding, and we work hard to provide these opportunities.”
Additionally, students visited the Safari Animal Park and California Science Center. When Virtual Academy students aren’t in the live sessions or uploading assignments to Canvas, they find themselves hanging out with aides in one of Virtual Village’s afternoon clubs: Lego, Yoga, Readers Theater, or Newspaper.
