Palm Academy Receives Grant for Software, Recording Studio

Springs’ Palm Academy in Indio has received a $12,500 grant from the Summit Springs Educational Foundation (SSEF) to be used to purchase AnimationNow software and to build a recording studio on the school’s new campus.

SSEF received the funding for the grant from the Anderson Children’s Foundation, which supports schools in the Coachella Valley. (Academy teacher Haroon Abdul Mubaarik is pictured holding the letter announcing the awarding of the grant.) The software will allow students to create their own animated stories.

Palm Academy serves grades TK-8 and has adopted an arts-integrated focus to facilitate learning. When the new facility opens in the coming weeks, it will serve up to 290 students in an open, collaborative environment. SSEF gives grants for college and trade school to Springs graduating seniors, and funds classroom projects. Donations by families and friends of Springs are always welcome.
