Venture Online students Adalyn and Alayah Carter work as background talent for television programs. At age four, their mother signed them with Kids! Management, which describes itself as “the premiere background management company in Hollywood focused on coordinating the needs of casting directors [of minor children to] work on set as background talent for the entertainment industry.”

Mylabelle Miller, a 2nd grade student with Springs’ Venture Online Program, is becoming an accomplished equestrian. She rides with the Norco Equestrian Academy (NEA) and has come to enjoy horsemanship, riding, and the companionship of the horses. She has joined the NEA Gymkhana Team, in which participants learn to guide their horses through different patterns and receive points based on speed and accuracy.

The Springs’ Venture Online staff gathered for an Individualized Learning Program Learning Summit which included team building, professional development, and preparation for CAASPP testing (which has not taken place in two years). In other Venture online news, the school will host its annual Virtual 8th grade and kindergarten promotion to celebrate students who are being promoted.

Springs’ Venture Online families held a Mid-Year Event at the San Diego Zoo’s Wild Animal Park, the first in-person event held since 2019. More than 350 students and parents participated.

Venture Online launched a monthly speaker series in December. Community members are invited to join an online meeting with students to share about their occupation and answer questions. The first presenters included Lynda Morales of the San Diego City Fire Department and J.W. Cox, a radio and TV broadcaster. One hundred eighty students participated in the kickoff presentations.
