Springs’ Temecula Student Center’s (TSC) recent Family Fun Night featured a visit to the Lake Elsinore Diamond baseball park to watch a minor league Storm baseball game, reported Principal Valerie Walker. Valerie was called on to throw out the ceremonial first pitch while many TSC families looked on. They enjoyed an evening of “joy and excitement,” she reported, and students were “thrilled” to chase after foul balls. Vice Principal Jeanette LaRue added that such events fostered a “strong, connected school community.”

The Temecula Student Center (TSC) was pleased to graduate 36 students at the close of the 2023-24 school year, including four who finished their graduation requirements in three years “earning them the distinction of being early finishers,” reported Valerie Walker, principal. One student will be going on to attend Cal Poly Pomona, others to local community colleges, and some to trade schools.

Temecula Student Center celebrated the end of the boys’ volleyball season with a “thrilling” students vs. staff volleyball game, reported Principal Valerie Walker, with the students prevailing 3-1 (best out of 5 rounds). Overall for the season boys volleyball was 1-4, with Coach Dontae Jelks leading.

Taking Such Classes Can Be a Benefit to Students, Says Director of High School Programs
Beverly Voechting, Springs’ director of high school programs, reports that there has been a “huge” increase in the number of college courses taken by Springs high school students this school year. Last year, Springs High School students took 135 classes online from Barstow Community College as compared to 425 in the present year. Eighty-one percent of Springs students pass their classes, as compared to 75% of college-aged students.

She explained, “International Peace Day has been established by the UN General Assembly, and is dedicated to promoting peace within communities, strengthening the ideals of peace, and fostering a culture of non-violence and ceasefire across the globe.”
