Construction of a permanent facility for Springs’ Flabob Airport Preparatory Academy (FAPA) is making progress, reported principal Robin Davis, with an office and 10 classrooms having been completed and work on a hangar and installation of plumbing underway. Inspections will follow once the work is complete, and the building is expected to be ready for occupancy by January.

Springs’ Flabob Airport Preparatory Academy (FAPA) in Riverside was awarded a $24,400 American Airlines Flight Education grant to encourage students to consider careers in aviation, specifically becoming pilots. The funding will be used to provide students with a tour of Boeing aircraft manufacturing facilities, for the purchase of remote control airplanes, for flight lessons and a tour of Coast Flight Training flight school in San Diego. Middle school students in Springs’ Flabob Airport Preparatory Academy’s (FAPA) first robotics class are learning to program microcontrollers in its “What’s a Microcontroller” class.
