River Springs Charter School will partner with La Sierra University’s Academy of Visual and Performing Arts for the 2017-2018 school year allowing Homeschool and academy students in Corona and Riverside programs to benefit from a K-6 grade music education provided by the student interns from the university.
Beverly Voechting, the principal at Magnolia Academy, explained, “This partnership allows our students to experience choir, musical education and group instrument lessons.”
The program benefits students at La Sierra University as well, said Professor Dave Kendall, as they receive “practical experience in sharing their passion with the younger generation.”
Ms. Voechting encouraged parents to read this article from the National Association for Music Education on “20 Important Benefits of Music in Our Schools.”
