To accommodate its steady growth in the 2018-19 school year, the Otay Ranch Student Center was pleased to add six new teachers and ACEs: Joseph Daniel, April Giuffre, Kayla Little, Andrew Lona, Victoria Vela, and Diane Weinberger. The program is beginning its 5th year, and employs a staff of 35 teachers and administrators who serve 410 students.
Additionally, 3rd and 4th graders in teacher Lacee Myers class wrote letters to first responders and service members thanking them for their service in honor of Patriots’ Day, September 11. She told her students that her goal for them was to go out into the community and deliver the letter to someone.
She said, “Our character trait this month is respect, and what better way to demonstrate respect than to show someone how much you care about them and what they do? I asked the students to email me a photo of themselves and the first responder or service member to whom they delivered the letter. This student, Ava, went to the National City Fire Department and delivered her letter. She read it aloud to the firefighters on duty and they posted it on the wall next to their September 11th remembrance flag.”
