Visitors to the Pathfinder Resource Center in Riverside, which temporarily houses Magnolia Academy (TK-12th) and Flabob Airport Prep Academy (7th-12th) students, are experiencing the creativity of famous master artisans as well-known works of art have been grouped and displayed by their artists’ country of origin, reported Principal Beverly Voechting.
The main hallway of the Center features the first primitive parietal art (cave paintings) appearing on one side of a faux sandstone cave. Also featured are art pieces created in the style of paper artist Jen Stark as well as string art, tape resist, and watercolor impressionism to show off the many talents of the faculty and staff.
The faculty and staff artists have worked under the direction of resident art teacher, Geoffrey Straker. The art walk continues into every classroom in which well-known to obscure creative genius’ works are explored, experienced and displayed. From Calder’s physics mobile art in science to Pablo Picasso’s cubism in Spanish to graffiti artist Banksy in English class, students and visitors can appreciate craftsmanship and art history.
