Journey Student Joins Civil Air Patrol

Springs’ Journey Homeschool High School student Abigail Bryson is part of the Civil Air Patrol (CAP), the civilian auxiliary of the United States Air Force, shared Nicole Collins. CAP is a nationally recognized program that focuses on four key areas: leadership, aerospace education, physical fitness, and character development.

When Abby first joined CAP, her primary goals were to grow as a leader, strengthen her character, and improve her physical fitness. As she progressed through the program, she discovered a strong and growing interest in aviation. Over the past year, Abby has participated in flight courses and aerospace education opportunities through CAP; experiences that can be applied toward earning her private pilot license.

In addition to her aviation training, Abby has taken part in a variety of Civil Air Patrol events where she learned drills, teamwork, and effective leadership strategies. Her dedication and commitment to the program have led to her promotion to the rank of Cadet Master Sergeant, a leadership role that allows her to mentor and guide other cadets.

“One of the highlights of cadet life is a weeklong event called Encampment, where cadets have the chance to learn teamwork, responsibility, and new standards and discipline,” Abby shared.

Abby has thoroughly enjoyed her time in CAP and credits the program with helping her grow both personally and academically. She strongly recommends CAP to students who are interested in leadership development, aviation, and serving their community.
