Journey Junior Excels

Laiah McFee is an 11th-grade student who has thrived in the Journey Homeschool High School program, reported ES Summer Knapp. Ms. Knapp said, “She asks good questions, cheers on other students, shares her perspective, and brings levity to every moment and meeting.”

Laiah belongs to a cohort, she noted, of the Youth Leadership Academy through the Empowerment Center which “helps youth and families discover their best and create happier and healthier living patterns. The Youth Leadership Academy provides me with mental health support and a safe place to do my work. I have been able to volunteer and hand out resources to the community. I also get to volunteer and support children overcoming personal life challenges.”

Laiah is a certified youth community health worker. When she graduates, she would like to be a therapist or social worker.
