Springs’ Journey Homeschool High School has a co-ed swim team. Members of the Magnolia Falcons High School Swim Team receive a swimsuit and cap uniform and can borrow a Magnolia Falcons parka; the swimmers practice Monday through Friday and have regular meets.
Members include 9th grader Sierra Lemen, who participated in her first meet on March 17, swimming in the individual 50-yard freestyle and the individual 100-yard backstroke. She also completed the 50-yard backstroke on the medley relay team. Sierra was motivated to join the team because she wanted to build her endurance and strength and enjoys making new friends.
Ninth-grader Gwyneth McIntyre attended the same meet and participated in the individual 100-yard breaststroke and the individual 50-yard freestyle, as well as completing the 50-yard breaststroke on the medley relay team. Gwyn has been warmly welcomed and is enjoying the team experience as she practices with the Magnolia team daily. Students who attend and participate in all the swim meets receive a letter for their letterman’s jacket, which was a motivation for Gwyn.
New Homeschool students are welcome to join the 2023 team; the season starts in January. Also, families can support the swim team by purchasing Falcons spirit gear.
