Nicholas Zuiderveld, an 8th-grade Homeschool student with Springs Charter Schools who lives in Rancho Santa Margarita, has taken the initiative to sew masks for local hospitals as a way to combat COVID-19.
He first was introduced to sewing while taking a Theater Tech and Costumes class at Springs’ Santa Ana Learning Center, after which his mother bought him his own sewing machine. His sister, Brookelyn Zuiderveld, a 2nd-grade Homeschool student who also takes classes at the Santa Ana Learning Center, has joined in her brother’s efforts.
